WEST BROM NOW HOPE TO BEAT LEEDS UNITED IN RACE FOR 28-YEAR-OLD STRIKER
Leeds United could miss out on Sory Kaba with West Bromwich Albion now looking to snap up the striker.
West Bromwich Albion are allegedly looking to secure a deal for Leeds United target Sory Kaba.
That is according to the Daily Mirror (01/08, p39), who claim that West Brom are hoping to beat three Championship rivals to Kaba’s signature.
It’s suggested that Leeds United and Watford would both like to sign Kaba whilst Cardiff City are understandably keen.
Cardiff took Kaba on loan for the second half of last season and the Guinean striker hit eight goals in 17 games.
Now back with Danish club Midtjylland, Kaba is attracting major interest and West Brom are looking to win the race.
The Baggies have just signed a new striker having handed a three-year deal to Josh Maja.
Kaba is still on their wish list though and Leeds will seemingly face a real fight with their former coach Carlos Corberan in the race for his signature.
Who is Leeds United target Sory Kaba?
Kaba was born in the Guinean capital of Conakry but moved to Spain at a young age.
Kaba joined the ranks of Madrid-based Alcobendas and ended up shining to earn himself a move to Elche.
The 6ft 3in forward started in Elche’s B team but quickly ascended into first-team action, smashing 24 goals in 64 games.
French side Dijon pounced in 2019 but Kaba failed to make an impact there, failing to score in 11 games for the club.
Kaba’s next stop was Denmark as, after just a few months at Dijon, he was flogged to Midtjylland.
27 goals and 15 assists in 105 games isn’t a terrible record but not quit as impressive as his Elche days.
After spending the 2021-22 season on loan at Belgian side OH Leuven, Kaba ended up in South Wales with Cardiff for the back half of last term.
Kaba was hailed by Sabri Lamouchi for making a ‘massive’ impact at Cardiff but his performances have now sparked rival interest.
Leeds may well fancy adding a target man for Daniel Farke’s squad but West Brom appear to be leading the race as things stand.
