Tuesday BP: More injury updates!

In yesterday’s BP, I offered up some injury updates for the San Francisco Giants, following AAA Sacramento rehab appearances for pitchers Blake Snell, Robbie Ray, and Austin Warren, and first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. But really, those updates were just that that quartet of players played … and in Snell’s case, talked.

But on Monday, the Giants offered some honest-to-goodness injury updates on those players, and a few more. Here’s all you need to know, with thanks to The Athletic’s Andrew Baggarly, the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser and Shayna Rubin, and NBC Sports Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic for tweeting out these updates.

Snell, who made it explicitly clear that he needed at least one more rehab start and ideally a few more, will start for Sacramento on Friday. He’ll also throw a bullpen session today.

Ray, who has made five rehab appearances now (four in the Arizona Complex League, and one in AAA) will also make a start on Friday, but his will be with the Low-A San Jose Giants. He’s progressing nicely, though it still seems like the timeline is post-All-Star break.

Wade, who began his rehab assignment on Sunday but was just the designated hitter, will play in the field today and tomorrow for Sacramento. The Giants didn’t give a timeline, but I would assume that if all goes well in those games, Wade will be activated by the end of the week.

Kyle Harrison will throw off of a mound today. He’s eligible to come off the Injured List later this week, but Bob Melvin has already said that the youngster will probably need a little bit more time, which this timeline seems to confirm.

Keaton Winn, who is on the IL once again, thankfully had his MRI come back clean. Doctors have determined that his elbow pain is nerve-related, and he won’t throw for at least a week. Here’s hoping that he not only gets healthy, but that those nerve issues were the reason for some of his struggles.

Alex Cobb will throw a live bullpen in Arizona today, while Ethan Small will throw off a mound in Arizona later in the week.

And just to really tie it all together, the team revealed that Tristan Beck is “continuing his rehab.” Wow, what a surprise.

What time do the Giants play today?

The Giants and Cubs have another game tonight at 6:45 p.m. PT. I recommend you watch it if you’re the type of person who enjoys watching Giants baseball on a Tuesday night at 6:45 p.m. PT.
