Tips for Gold Coast Suns vs. Geelong Cats

The Cats had a 7-0 start to the season before suffering two straight defeats; Geelong is favored to turn things around.

The Suns may find it difficult to overcome a little handicap against Gold Coast, who have a great record in Darwin and are riding a five-game winning streak at TIO Stadium.

Since joining the AFL, the Gold Coast has not defeated Geelong anywhere other than Carrara, with the Cats owning a 12-3 record against the Suns.
This season, the Suns have fallen short of the top eight teams by at least 28 points.
At Marrara Oval, the Suns have won five straight games; however, none of those victories have come against teams that have placed in the top eight.
In their four losses this season, the Suns have averaged 64.5 points.

Last season, the Suns defeated the Cats 73-54 at People’s Choice Stadium. It was the Suns’ first victory over Geelong in seven meetings; the Gold Coast’s only other victory against Geelong dates back to 2017.

The Suns defeated the North Melbourne Kangaroos, who are at the bottom of the table, 5-1 at TIO Stadium in Darwin, their home away from home. It was an impressive victory.

Attack-wise, the Gold Coast was unstoppable, scoring 120 points, their highest point total of the year, and won by a huge 68 points to defeat the Kangas 120–52.

The Hardwick Effect is at work again, as the Suns have won more over half of their games through nine rounds compared to previous year.

The Coast has little trouble defeating opponents lower on the ladder, but they are 5-2 versus bottom-ten teams and have been utterly outmatched by the Giants and the Swans by an average loss margin.
