INDIA — In the midst of spring, a Big Ten team took Ohio State’s running back coach; thus, Ohio State returned the favor to another Big Ten club.

Just one week after the Buckeyes’ spring practice began, Sherrone Moore made the decision to bring Tony Alford, who had spent nine years in Columbus, to Ann Arbor in order to oust his competition for the position of head coach at Michigan. Ryan Day found himself having to call an audible for his 2024 coaching staff for the second time. He had already accomplished it when he replaced longtime mentor Bill O’Brien as his offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach with Chip Kelly. He was now without a coach for running backs.

Here’s why Dillon Gabriel won’t be Ohio State’s starting quarterback in 2024.

He would have to steal from someone else if he hired personnel in the middle of spring, which is not the best time to do it. As a result, he hired Carlos Locklyn to manage a group that featured Quinshon Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson as the leading players and James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon as the backup players.

Oregon was left with an empty hand. However, Lanning has no harsh feelings.

Lanning added, “He did a great job for us.” put in a lot of effort at work and prioritized connections. We are appreciative of the time he spent with us and eager to follow his future endeavors.
After snatching Ra’Shaad Samples from Arizona State, the third-year Ducks coach turned to him, carrying on the Wolverines’ tradition of coaches pilfering coaches in the middle of the spring. However, at least Dominoes is no longer a member of the Big Ten.

The season where both of the stolen coaches will have to go back to their own programs for an OSU game is now the center of attention. On October 12, Locklyn will make a highly-anticipated return to Eugene, Oregon, for a game between the top two teams in Cleveland.com’s preseason Big Ten Media Poll. On November 30, 2024, Alford will be back in Columbus for The Game, which will pit the defending national champion Wolverines against an Ohio State squad looking to snap a three-game losing streak.
