Over the past ten years, the Golden State Warriors have been among the NBA’s top teams. The team’s main players were Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry. Together, they had many special moments and won championships. However, Thompson’s departure from the Warriors to join the Dallas Mavericks this offseason marked the definitive end of the franchise.
Draymond Green recently discussed his thoughts over Klay Thompson’s departure from the Warriors on the “Club 520” podcast. Green acknowledged that although he wasn’t as pleased as he once was, he was relieved that Thompson was departing. Green believed that Thompson needed a new team and thought his move to Dallas was a wise one.
The Warriors management rejected Thompson’s request for a large contract and failed to provide him with what he desired. Thompson chose to depart because he thought the Warriors’ management negotiations had insulted him. Later, Thompson agreed to a $50 million, three-year contract with the Dallas Mavericks.
Despite the fact that Thompson has only ever played for one team, it will be fantastic to see him don a new shirt. In Dallas, he’ll have Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic as his formidable backcourt. The Mavericks’ style of play will undoubtedly complement Thompson’s. Buddy Hield, the Warriors’ excellent shooting substitute for Thompson, is another asset to the team.
Draymond Green discusses the trade talks between the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors lost two important players for nothing, which has made their offseason extremely bad. Due to contract disputes, they lost Klay Thompson and waived Chris Paul. Buddy Hield, a fantastic shooter who can attempt to replace Thompson’s shoes, was recently acquired by the Warriors.
When Draymond Green recently discussed the trade talks between the Warriors, he did not specify which player they were planning to sell. He went so far as to say that the team wanted to sign Lauri Markkanen. The Warriors were reportedly preparing a trade package that would include rookie Brandon Podziemski along with a future lottery pick in exchange for Markkanen, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.
The Warriors would benefit greatly from having Markkanen. He would be an excellent stretch forward who could replace some of the outside shooting and be Curry’s backup option. As the regular season approaches, NBA fans will be watching the Warriors’ movements during the remaining offseason.
