The Atlanta Falcons are elevating cornerback Kevin King from their practice for the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team announced. King will come up to help with special teams and cornerback depth after veteran Antonio Hamilton Sr. suffered a groin injury late in the week. Hamilton was ruled out on the game status report, and so King will act as both a gunner and the team’s No. 5 cornerback.

King, the 33rd pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of Washington by the Green Bay Packers, is on the Falcons’ practice squad after re-signing to that room after spending all of the summer with the team. He missed the entire 2023 season with a torn Achilles tendon that he suffered while training for the season.

He has not played in an NFL game since 2021, skipping the 2022 season to recover from multiple nagging injuries. So, this will be King’s first game in almost three years, but he has worked his way to get back to this point.

He spent the first five seasons of his career with the Packers before moving on, though the Falcons are his first team since that time, as he never inked another contract after electing to skip the entire 2022 season to recover from injuries.
