Nebraska football: Star wide receiver officially ‘in the game

Nebraska football players are still busy announcing that they will take part in EA Sports Coillege Football 25.

Malachi Coleman is the latest to confirm his involvement.

As the sun rises on Saturday morning, the world is that much closer to the release of EA Sports College Football 25. And to celebrate the summer release of the new game, Nebraska football has a new player confirming he’s officially “in the game.”

Wide receiver Malachi Coleman is the latest Husker to take to social media and make it official. He’s signed a deal with the video game developer that will put his name, image, and likeness into the title.

Coleman is officially the third Husker to make that announcement. The first two were quarterback Dylan Raiola and fellow receiver Dae’vonn Hall. It’s clear that not every Nebraska football player is announcing they signed the deal, though EA has been working out special deals with several Cornhuskers stars to get people excited.

At the same time that Malachi Coleman is making it clear that people will be able to throw the digitized ball to him, we’re moving that much closer to getting a really good look at what the new version of NCAA Football video games will look like.

Electronic Arts has said there will be a “full reveal” in May and that EA Sports College Football 25 will hit store shelves “this summer.”

When it does hit shelves, we’re going to get to see just how involved the Nebraska football program is. One thing we know won’t be in this version are the head coaches. That might put a damper on some people’s plans, though most people will want to be the head coach.

We also know that there are going to be a ton of different uniforms, even if some of them are behind paywalls.

That means Malachi Coleman and his Nebraska football teammates will be dressed to the nines.

Nebraska Cornhuskers sweep away the weekend in bounce back matches

After a bad, bad upset to SMU, the Nebraska Cornhuskers took some steps to right the ship on Thursday and Saturday.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball suffered arguably their worst loss of the past decade earlier this week. Now it’s time to bounce back from that defeat and show they can get the killer approach they showed last year.

While they weren’t infallible, the Huskers’ two wins this weekend, both sweeps, could show that they’re ready to start becoming the team everyone expected in 2024. Though there’s still plenty to work on and build on.

After sweeping The Citadel Thursday, the Huskers swept Montana State Saturday afternoon: 25-19, 25-15, 25-10. NU is now 5-1 on the season. That final set against MSU might be a sign that the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team isn’t starting to lock in.

As we have seen more often in the last few matches, head coach John Cook varied the lineup and played Taylor Landfair for Harper Murray on the outside in Set 2 and Landfair for Lindsay Krause in Set 3. We also saw Leyla Blackwell in the middle for Rebekah Allick.

Some might have worried that all the shifting and shuffling would hurt NU’s chemistry on the court, but it seems to be something that the players are adapting to well. It also shows that Cook knows he’s got so much talent on this roster that he might as well use it all.

Of course, the regulars for the Huskers still showed up against Montana State. Harper Murray led all attackers with 11 kills while hitting a very impressive .400 on the day.

Meanwhile, Andi Jackson and Rebekah Allick combined for 13 kills. They each hit .500 for the match as well.

Bergen Reilly dished out 37 assists and tied Lexi Rodriguez for the team-high in digs at eight.

The wins on Thursday and Saturday mean that the Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team will head into the next week after officially righting the ship. Now it’s time to find the same kind of gear they found last season as the schedule is about to get quite a bit tougher, starting with a Tuesday match against Creighton.
