Vanderbilt Commodores at LSU Tigers Game Predictions
Two struggling SEC teams will look to finish the season on a strong note when the Vanderbilt Commodores (6-4) take on the LSU Tigers (6-4). The two teams have gone a combined 1-5 in the last three games. Vanderbilt got a bye last week, which gives it time to recover after getting whipped by South Carolina. LSU has lost three straight, and all three losses have been by double digits. Someone is going to get a much-needed late season win that helps get some momentum back, and the loser is going to suffer another crushing loss as the regular season winds down. Location: Tiger Stadium (Baton Rouge, La.) Date: Saturday – November 23 Time: 7:30 PM ET Channel: NBC/Peacock Line: Notre Dame -23.5, O/U: 50.5 Irish Breakdown’s staff has made predictions for this key matchup.
BRYAN DRISKELL, OWNER Prediction: LSU 24, Vanderbilt 21 I really want to pick Vanderbilt in this game, but I’m not sure I am willing to pick them in this road game. Vanderbilt is 2-2 on the road this season, with losses to Georgia State and Missouri, and then low scoring wins at Kentucky (20-13) and Auburn (17-7). LSU’s most recent home game was a disaster, but by and large they have been good at home under Brian Kelly. Both offenses are struggling, which makes this a tougher game to predict. LSU has struggled defending mobile quarterbacks all season, which factors into my desire to pick the Commodores. LSU being at home is a factor that works in their favor, and Vanderbilt’s struggling pass defense could also be a factor.

VINCE DEDARIO, FOOTBALL ANALYST Prediction: LSU 28, Vanderbilt 24 Oh BK and the LSU Tigers are like the gift that keeps on giving. They already have four losses, their SEC hopes are doomed, their CFP hopes are doomed and now they have to play the upstart Fighting Clark Lea’s. Has LSU checked out? That is a legitimate question right now. I would bet Vanderbilt hasn’t checked out yet. They are going to have a road dog mentality and if you think the seat is hot right now for BK, just wait and see what happens if Vandy comes into Death Valley and leaves with a W.
SEAN STIRES, STAFF WRITER Prediction: LSU 24, Vanderbilt 17 This game sure looks different today than anyone would have thought it would back in September. Brian Kelly’s already lost to one former Irish defensive coordinator (Mike Elko/Texas A&M) that started a 3-game slide and Clark Lea has Vandy bowl eligible with a signature win over Alabama.
TREVOR TROWBRIDGE, STAFF WRITER Prediction: Vanderbilt 28, LSU 27 Vanderbilt has built their reputation in 2024 around an upset against Alabama and battling Texas for four quarters. LSU is struggling right now and on the verge of imploding, Clark Lea and Vandy will take advantage. NICK KREMER, RECRUITING ANALYST Prediction: LSU 35, Vanderbilt 21 Clark Lea and Vanderbilt have been one of the season’s biggest surprises. I predict Vanderbilt will put up a fight in this one, but LSU’s talent edge wins out. ANDREW MCDONOUGH, IB CONTRIBUTOR.
Things are spicy in the bayou after 3 straight losses but Brian Kelly and family circle the wagons and win an ugly one against his former defensive coordinator, Clark Lea. Vanderbilt ranks 15th in the SEC in total offense and has been severely limited on that side of the ball as more teams have gotten film on QB Diego Pavia, who has also been battling nagging injuries. Vanderbilt’s defense has been vulnerable against the pass this year, but Lea and the Commodores will have some wrinkles to limit LSU offensively, much like they did against Texas, which will keep this one close. Ultimately, though, a late Tiger touchdown puts this one away.
