Not close’ – Iraola provides update on injured Fredericks
Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes ‘not close’ to injury return
Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes are “not close” to returning to the first squad, according to manager Andoni Iraola.
Since suffering injuries near the end of the previous season, neither has played this season.
Marcondes had foot surgery, while Fredericks suffered a “quite nasty” calf injury, according to former boss Gary O’Neil.
Adams may make his debut against Stoke, but six players have been ruled out.
“They are far from training with the team,” Iraola remarked when asked for an update on the pair.
“At least this week, I saw them on the grass, even if they were just doing the physical side.”
“I think it’s good for the players to start going outside and not just to the gym and the physios.”
“So they are on their way to recovery, but they are not close to being part of the training with the team.”
