Leeds United loanee facing possible ban following parent club scandal
If it is determined that Leeds United midfielder Weston McKennie was aware of Juventus’s questionable accounting scheme, he may be subject to a protracted suspension from football.
According to Corriere dello Sport, McKennie, who is on loan from Juventus to Leeds, may need to defend himself in court in light of the accusations made against the Old Lady.
In January, Juventus received a 15-point deduction from their Serie A standing after being found guilty of incorrect accounting during the Cvid-19 period.
If it is determined that players who were at Juventus between 2019 and 2021 were aware of the illicit activities, they may have to serve time in jail.
The severity of the problem is further increased by the facts that, while Tottenham’s managing director Fabio Paratici was on Wednesday handed a global football ban by FIFA, the whole Juventus board had already resigned over the claims in November.
Regarding McKennie’s predicament, if Leeds stays in the Premier League, they have the option to sign the American on a permanent basis in the summer.
However, if the situation at Juventus worsens, his move might be seriously questioned.
