Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has received a call-up to Nigeria’s international team for the upcoming international break.
The 26-year-old has received a call-up to face Saudi Arabia on October 11th but the former Fulham man missed Forest’s 1-1 draw against Brentford at the weekend.
Despite no comment on the fitness of Aina, it is unknown whether the defender will be back in time to face Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.
He’s had a great start to life at the City Ground, especially considering he’s mostly played out of position during his time at the club.
Aina called up to Nigeria’s squad
In a statement released this morning, the Nigerian Football Federation confirmed that Aina was included in the squad alongside fellow Forest man Taiwo Awoniyi.
Although he won the club’s Player of the Month award for September, there are concerns about the 26-year-old’s fitness after already missing two games this season through injury.
Whilst the call-up is thoroughly deserved, it may be seen as a hindrance to his Forest form should he pick up another knock on international duty.
This could turn into a bigger worry, based on the Reds’ recent luck with injuries.

Aina the key to Forest
Aina looks like the sort of player who will work tirelessly to ensure he stays in the Forest team.
As a result, he looks like becoming a very good character and a player who will quickly adhere himself to the fans.
Although he’s received his call-up, Forest will hope he can stay injury-free should he represent his nation during the upcoming break.
