Collingwood announces trio of integral re-signings
The Magpies have cemented the futures of three.
Collingwood announced the re-signings of three senior players on Sunday, securing the signatures of rebounding defender John Noble, pressure forward Beau McCreery, and untried draftee Jakob Ryan.
The Magpies’ retention triumph follows their on-field victory on Saturday night; a scintillating two-point victory over fellow flag-aspirants Port Adelaide.
Up until Sunday, Noble, 26, found himself without a contract going into next year. However, upon agreeing to a three-year extension, the running defender is now locked in at Olympic Park until at least 2026.
McCreery, meantime, was contracted at Collingwood for next year but has added three years to his deal, solidifying his Pies future until the conclusion of the 2027 season.
Ryan, like McCreery, was already contracted at Olympic Park through next season and has added two years to his current deal, tying his black-and-white tenure to at least the end of 2026.
“We’re pleased to see John, Beau and Jakob re-commit to our club,” Collingwood’s GM of football Graham Wright said.
“It’s been great to watch John’s journey after missing under-age drafts and being selected as a Mid-Season Rookie a few years ago.
“Equally exciting has been Beau’s development, becoming a key contributor for our AFL side with his trademark pressure and ability to kick goals.
“Both John and Beau have established themselves as key contributors for our AFL side and we’re excited to see them continue this next chapter of their respective football careers with us.
“Jakob is an exciting young talent who has impressed in his short time with us so far. The commitment he displays towards his ongoing development is resulting in improvement each week and we look forward to him growing within our environment.”
Collingwood’s dramatic win on Saturday night ensured a two-game buffer on top of the ladder, with arch-rival Carlton to come next weekend at the MCG.
