Wests Tigers forward keen for move to Super League’s Castleford Tigers

RECRUITMENT and retention are ongoing for all Super League clubs ahead of the 2024 season, despite the fact that six sides have yet to complete their current season.

Castleford Tigers must rebuild and reinvigorate a team that finished 11th in 2023, just four points ahead of local rivals Wakefield Trinity.

Current Wests Tigers forward James Roumanos is interested in joining the West Yorkshire club.

Roumanos had been pursued by a number of Super League clubs prior to the August deadline, but no club was able to conclude a trade in time.

However, a deal to bring the Lebanon international to Castleford is very much in the works, with the 24-year-old eager for the move to go place.

However, the Tigers would have to give up one of their foreign quota seats, which are presently held by Nixon Putt, Sylvester Namo, Elie El-Zakhem, Charbel Tasipale, Liam Horne, Jacob Miller, and Albert Vete.

The forward, who is 24 years old, has only played one NRL game for the Manly Sea Eagles, which occurred in 2022.

Roumanos joined Wests Tigers ahead of the 2023 season, although he did not play in the club’s disappointing season.

However, it is Roumanos’ performance in the World Cup that has piqued the interest of a number of northern hemisphere clubs, with the 6 ft 2 forward having made five appearances for the Cedars since making his national team debut in 2019.

Those international appearances will enable the 24-year-old to move to the Super League and qualify for a visa.
