£50m Crystal Palace star now ‘leading’ rtaget for Premier League rivals Spurs
The latest transfer news suggests that Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi is a main target for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
That is according to journalist Ryan Taylor.
So, what’s the latest on Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Guehi is no doubt a very key player for Palace and his top performances have seen him become a regular England international. This has not been overlooked by some of the best clubs in the division, with Spurs apparently keen admirers of the defender.
Speaking to the Spurs Chat Podcast, Taylor said: “Another name that you haven’t mentioned is Marc Guehi. From what I understand he is one of the leading centre-back targets.
“It’s pretty obvious that Palace are not going to give him up without demanding an excessive fee, however, he’s really appreciated by Spurs.
“Obviously, Johan Lange has just come in now, but I think Guehi’s a player that’s been tracked by Tottenham for some time now. He was really appreciated by Paratici, who is of course still involved with the club on a consultancy basis I believe.”
Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi is Tottenham’s leading defensive transfer target
Guehi is only 23 years-old but he has set the world alight at the Eagles and arguably has been one of their best centre-backs over the last decade.
The player, who apparently has a £50m price tag, is great at defending but he is also good with the ball at his feet and can cause some havoc with some charging runs forward. He has no doubt become a fan favourite in South London.
Guehi is also a key player for manager Roy Hodgson and he has already been a captain for the Eagles on many occasions.
With so much talent and the defender also playing for England, it is no shock to see a club like Tottenham want to sign him.
The Eagles have been signing some top talent who are not at their full potential but have a very high ceiling. It would be great if Palace could get Guehi to sign a new contract, just like they did with Eberechi Eze, to raise his resale value.
The plan is to have them excel at the club for a few seasons and then hopefully sell them for profit in the future and it definitely looks like this could happen with Guehi.
