Demarai Gray essentially booted out of Everton as Jack Harrison to wear No.11 shirt
Demarai Gray could be on the verge of being booted out of the Everton squad after reports emerged that his No.11 shirt has been handed to Jack Harrison.
The club announced the signing of the Leeds winger on a season-long loan deal on Monday morning (14 August), sealing their chase for a long-term target and bolstering the attacking options in a much-needed move.
But reports online shortly after suggest that the 26-year-old has been handed the No.11 shirt at Goodison Park for the upcoming season.
For squad number enthusiasts that’s fantastic, a winger wearing number 11. But eagle-eyed fans will have noticed that shirt number currently belongs to winger Demarai Gray.
The Jamaica international has been linked with a move away all summer with, Besikt Fulham, Crystal Palaceas and Saudi Arabia listed as potential destinations by different reports.
But as of right now the player is still part of the club’s playing staff, and Dyche recently reported that any player under contract was part of his plans for the upcoming season.
However if this squad number news turns out to be true it shows that Gray has absolutely no future at the club and fans should be preparing for a farewell statement in the very near future.
It’s a shame to see the end of his career at the club happen like this, because he has been vital to our survival in each of the last two seasons and even doing big shifts out of position.
But it’s clear that Dyche has got a different vision and would rather cash in during the final year of his deal than use him and risk losing him for nothing. It’s just a bit of a nasty ending from the club.
