Giants DC Says 1 Defender ‘Has No Ceiling’

A year after making a surprising run to the playoffs, this season hasn’t been as exciting for the New York Giants and their fans.

Despite their 5-8 record heading into Week 15, there have still been a few reasons to at least remain positive about the future of the Giants.

New York pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has come into his own this season, with 11.5 sacks in 13 games, and Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale recently shared why the team’s fan base should be excited about what lies ahead for the young defender (via Giants Videos on Twitter).“The guy has no ceiling because he doesn’t allow himself to have a ceiling. It’s crazy because he’s only 22 years old, but he’s becoming that football savant in the NFL, where he sees things before they happen.”

Selected by the Giants with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Thibodeaux struggled a bit in 2022 as a rookie.

But in 2023, he has fully lived up to the high expectations that came with being a top-five draft pick, and according to Martindale, this is only the beginning for the young New York pass rusher.

In 13 games this season, Thibodeaux has 44 tackles (12 for a loss), 31 pressures, 14 QB hits, 11.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

He’s really come on strong in the last few weeks with 28 tackles (seven for a loss) and six sacks in his last six games for the Giants.

Opposing offenses now have to figure out how they are going to stop the New York defender since he will cause massive problems for them if they don’t.

In Week 15, Thibodeaux and the Giants will attempt to improve their record to 6-8 and keep their slim playoff hopes alive when they take on a struggling 6-7 New Orleans Saints team.
