‘VERY GOOD SIGNING FOR LIVERPOOL’: JURGEN KLOPP TIPPED TO SIGN DOMINIK SZOBOSZLAI’S EX-TEAMMATE

Don Hutchison has backed Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to secure the transfer of Xaver Schlager from RB Leipzig.

Liverpool have already knocked on the German club’s door this summer when they secured the transfer of Dominik Szoboszlai – Michael Owen lauded him after he made his Premier League debut.

But now, Hutchison has posted on Twitter that he would like his former side to add Xaver Schlager to their ranks because he would be a ‘very good signing’ for them.

The 25-year-old is an Austria international and a key member of a Leipzig team that outclassed Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on Saturday.

Liverpool are in need of midfield players this summer after the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho, even when they were still here, the club still needed to add more legs to the middle of the park.

So, you can imagine the rush to make sure they are replaced before the 2023 summer transfer window slams shut in a few weeks and they aren’t being helped by the likes of Moises Caicedo rejecting them, with Hutchison sharing his thoughts on Schlager.

“Would Be a very good signing for Liverpool,” said Hutchison.

“I’ve liked him for a while. Had Potential at Salzburg/Wolfsburg and has definitely kicked on a Leipzig.”

Sporting CP star has won multiple titles in Portugal including the Liga Nos in the 2020-21 season and he is an extremely important member of the Lions squad.

Today’s version of Jornal de Noticias, the Lisbon club have been trying to agree a new deal that will not only increase his salary but also increase the exit clause.

However, so far, the player has turned down the renewal approaches made by the club and his current release clause remains at 45 million euros (£38.7m).

JN claim if Liverpool activates the £38.7m clause, Sporting will be able to do nothing to prevent the transfer and everything will depend on the player’s willingness to move to England.

Inacio made 52 appearances in all competitions in the last campaign and helped the team keep 20 clean sheets. He also found the net 4 times and made 3 assists.
