Everton: Jack Harrison likely to miss six weeks with hip injury after signing from Leeds United

Jack Harrison is unlikely to make his Everton debut any time soon as his hip injury will rule him out for another six weeks, report the Birmingham Mail.

Writing on their official website (15 August), the newspaper report that Aston Villa did indeed make an attempt to hijack the deal which saw the winger join the Toffees on a season-long loan deal.

But Villa opted against going through with it when medical tests showed the winger could be out for the next six weeks, meaning his Everton debut won’t be for a while.

“Jack Harrison signed for Everton on loan on Monday after the Toffees activated a clause in the 26-year-old’s contract that sees him join on a temporary basis,” they wrote.

“Villa have considered a move for Harrison previously, and also made an approach to sign him last week.

“However, due to concerns about the winger’s current hip injury, which could rule him out for the next six weeks, they did not push ahead with the deal.”

Yikes

We were all aware that Harrison is dealing with an injury currently and that’s why he hasn’t featured yet for Leeds this season too.

But considering the current issues we have in attack with fitness and lack of depth, signing someone is out for another six weeks and hasn’t even had a pre-season because of that injury is a major gamble.

He will need time to get fit, then he’ll need to get to the level of fitness that Sean Dyche wants and then need to get used to his new teammates and the way the squad currently plays.

It could be Christmas time and halfway through the season before we see him really up and running, and that’s without any setbacks in the process between now and then.

If we can get him going he will surely be a great addition to the squad, but there’s no doubting that his arrival was a big gamble now with this information.
