West Ham ended 2023 on a massive high with third straight Premier League win, this time in the Declan Rice derby at Arsenal.

It was the 32nd victory of an unforgettable year for the Hammers and a third clean sheet in a row too.

That was seriously against the odds after West Ham were left without central defensive pair Nayef Aguerd and Kurt Zouma while Lucas Paqueta, injured in the warm-up, also hobbled off with a knee injury.

Moyes lays out January transfer window plans

It comes at the worst possible time with Mohammed Kudus and Aguerd off to AFCON – possibly until mid February.

They could also be joined by Said Benrahma and Maxwel Cornet.

The top source inside West Ham confirmed to Hammers News the club is looking to be active in the January transfer window.

But also that fringe players must be offloaded to make space in the squad and satisfy FFP rules.

Now David Moyes has laid out West Ham’s January transfer window plans in honest interview after the Arsenal win.

‘There’s not a big lot of cash’

The Hammers boss says the injuries and AFCON departures – even if it is only Aguerd and Kudus – may dictate West Ham have to make signings.

Moyes insists that he will be looking to do just that but concedes there’s not ‘a big lot of cash’ for him to spend.

“Look the injuries will always play a part (in what we do in the window),” Moyes said speaking on Amazon Prime Video Sport.

“I don’t think that we’ve got a big lot of cash sitting there that we can spend on lots of players.

“And really it’s never an easy window. We’ll try and add to it I’m sure but we’ll need to see how the injuries are, how Kurt is.

“We’ve got a few boys away at the African (Cup of) Nations and it’ll be a big loss to us with Mo going to the African Nations as well, he’s been such an influence on the team.”
