The Sugar Bowl is happening in a few days and the stars of the Texas Longhorns are ready to face the undefeated Washington Huskies on Monday. With their rushing defense ranking No. 4 in the nation, there is a good chance for Texas to make history with their first playoff appearance. But that might happen only if the offense is protected and backed by the team as a whole.

Longhorns starting QBstarted every game this season except for two games due to a shoulder injury. He led his team to a 12-1 record with 3,161 yards and 21 touchdowns this season. Among other things, was known for his signature mullet that he cut off in February much to the shock of everyone, including Longhorns TE Ja Ta’Vion Sanders. In a recent YouTube video by Austin American-Stateman, he spoke of their team’s starting QBPhotos_ Postgame Celebrations against the Jetss. Sanders said, “cis a great guy, a great quarterback, a great leader… Ever since he cut that mullet off, he’s been a whole new QuinnAnd I’m glad he matured and took that step up into being the leader he is today.”

 

There is no secret that there is a very special connection between the Texas QB and TE, be it on or off the field. And JT Sanders isn’t about to keep his thoughts to himself about Ewers cutting off his mullet. He said of his new buzz cut, “His whole demeanor changed after he cut that mullet… He went from a kid to an adult, and it shows.” Their on-field chemistry was evident in their Week 4 game against Baylor. JT Sanders blocked a tackle to give space to Ewers for a touchdown, ultimately leading to a 38-6 victory, their first Big-12 conference season game.
As the semifinal game looms closer, the Longhorns are already in New Orleans where the Allstate Sugar Bowl is set to take place. There is excitement and suspense in the air as Texas and Washington prepare for the big game ahead. Texas boasts a solid defensive line while Washington leads the nation in passing offense as they enter the game.

Texas junior DL Barryn Sorrell said of playing at Caesars Superdome, “It’s a blessing to be able to come back. The atmosphere is unreal. It’s the Superdome, it’s the center of the city and heart of the city.” He also added, “It is the type of game you dream for and we know that. We all know we’re on one of our biggest stages out there and we’re playing something. It’s going down in the history books.” Surely the Longhorns have some special techniques up their sleeves.
