Rashard Anderson, a former Carolina Panthers and Jackson State University football player, died on Wednesday, the school confirmed. He was 45.
“Today is a sad day for the JSU family,” stated Ashley Robinson, Jackson State Vice President and Director of Athletics.
“Rashard was one of the best players in the history of our football program and an outstanding person,” he said. “He came to our spring football game in April and was ecstatic about the program’s return to championship form.” Rashard will be remembered fondly by Jackson State University, and our hearts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”
Anderson, a member of Jackson State’s Hall of Fame, was a cornerback from 1996 to 1999. He aided the school.
