And according to a report from Tuttopmercatoweb, Hammers boss David Moyes could attempt to bring him back to the London Stadium on a free transfer.
Anderson, 30, was sold to Lazio for around £3 million in the summer of 2021, and we apparently included a 50% sell-on clause in the deal.
The South American winger really disappointed with West Ham, after initially impressing during his debut campaign in England.
Anderson has been back on form with Lazio, and a recent report suggested that Aston Villa could open pre-contract talks to sign him this month.
Now though, the Hammers could be about to throw their hat in the ring in the race for the winger’s signature…
TMW reckon that the pacy winger is being targeted by the Hammers on a free transfer in the summer.
Now, with his contract set to expire with Lazio in just five month’s time, West Ham are free to make a pre-contract agreement with the Brazilian now.
This would be a hugely surprising move from Moyes, given how keen he was to ship Anderson out two-and-a-half years ago.
However, it could be argued that we gave up on the attacker too soon, and I definitely wouldn’t be against re-signing him on a free transfer on a two-year deal or something.
The 30-year-old winger has bagged 20 goals and 23 assists for Lazio since returning to the club in 2021 (Transfermarkt).
Felipe Anderson definitely has real talent and genuine ability, and he undoubtedly could still do a job for West Ham.
As mentioned earlier though, I do question the veracity of this report, given the fact that Moyes was the man who sold the South American winger. I just can’t see this one happening in the summer unfortunately.
