‘GOOD SIGNING’: SKY PUNDIT LAUDS ‘TALENTED BOY’ WHO COULD BE LIVERPOOL’S 3RD SUMMER SIGNING

Jody Morris says Sofyan Amrabat would be a ‘good signing’ for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Reds have only signed two players this summer – Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai – but they could be about to add a third.

Former Chelsea man Morris labelled Sofyan Amrabat as a ‘talented boy’ and someone that Liverpool are looking for in the middle of the park, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (16/08/23 at 7:55 pm).

This comes after reports emerged that the Europa League side are chasing a deal for the Fiorentina midfielder and are looking to beat Manchester United to his signature.

A star at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for Morocco, the 26-year-old’s stock hit high levels during that period and he could now be Premier League-bound.

If Amrabat does make that switch to Merseyside, then Jody Morris has backed the deal.

“He is a talented boy that has performed well in the perfect position that Liverpool are looking for,” said Morris.

“Good signing if both clubs (Liverpool and Manchester United) are able to get him.”

The sale of Fabinho has hit Liverpool hard because, whilst his form fell off a cliff last season, they don’t have a senior player of his ilk at the club anymore.

If Amrabat signs, then he certainly adds to it and his energy in front of that backline is exactly what Klopp will be looking for.

But just bringing that one player isn’t enough because, even before Fabinho’s move to Saudi Arabia, he needed competition in the middle of the park.

Liverpool are ramping up their bid for 23-year-old midfielder Cheick Doucoure after missing out of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia to Chelsea this summer, the Independent reports. The price to lure the Crystal Palace star to Anfield is reported to be around £60million, but the Eagles could be hesitant to sell Doucoure after already losing a number of players this summer.

The Daily Mail says Liverpool are also interested in Netherlands international midfielder Ryan Gravenberch. The 21-year-old at Bayern Munich is reportedly open to leaving the club due to a lack of playing time.

Newcastle United are set to pay £30million for 18-year-old full-back Lewis Hall after Chelsea put him up for sale, according to the Telegraph.

West Ham are hoping to use some of the money gained from the monster Declan Rice sale to sign a flurry of players. The Guardian says Montpellier striker Elye Wahi, Stuttgart defender Konstantinos Mavropanos and Bayer Leverkusen defender Odilon Kossounou are all on the club’s watchlist.

Jesse Lingard: West Ham are scoping out the 30-year-old midfielder who is now a free agent after his contract expired with Nottingham Forest, Football Daily said.

Aleksandar Mitrovic: The Guardian says the Fulham and Serbian striker is looking like the next Premier League player to head to the Saudi Pro League.

Liverpool icon Robbie Fowler says he will ‘put a word in’ to keep Mohamed Salah at Anfield amid ‘interest’ from Saudi Arabia.

The Reds star has been repeatedly linked with a move to the Kingdom this summer, with many touting that the 31-year-old will tread the same path as Neymar, Sadio Mane, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Pro League.

This week, it has been reported that Saudi side Al-Ittihad have contacted Salah and Liverpool about a potential transfer. Rudy Galetti claimed that the former Chelsea and Fiorentina forward will let Liverpool decide as he doesn’t mind the idea but respects the decision.

Fowler, 42, is currently managing in Saudi’s second tier with Al-Qadsiah and he followed Steven Gerrard – who is in charge of Saudi Pro League side Al Ettifaq – after the iconic Reds midfielder moved to play down suggestions that he wants Salah competing in the league.

“No. The answer is no because Mohamed Salah is my favourite player, I love Liverpool Football Club, so Mohamed can stay where he is,” Gerrard said bluntly. “When he wins more leagues and more Champions Leagues with Liverpool, we’ll maybe consider it.”
