Leeds United transfer news as Plymouth join Joe Gelhardt race and West Ham want Gnonto

Plymouth Argyle have joined the chase for young Leeds United striker Joe Gelhardt, according to reports. The 21-year-old has struggled to break into the first team under Daniel Farke, with Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe and Patrick Bamford all ahead of him in the pecking order.

It has led to speculation that he could be set to leave Elland Road this month, and there have been no shortage of clubs linked. Hull City, Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers have previouly been credited with interest, and now the Sun report that Plymouth are ready to make a move.

Leeds will face Plymouth in the FA Cup fourth round later this month of course, after Monday night’s draw. Wages could be a potential issue in any deal, but the fact that Argyle are not a promotion threat to Leeds could help swing the move.

West Ham United are keen to take Willy Gnonto back to the Premier League, according to reports. The Italian forward had been keen to leave Leeds United in the summer, but no deal materialised and the 20-year-old had to refocus on the Whites’ promotion push.

However, he has not been a regular starter under Daniel Farke, which has alerted some clubs to his potential availability. Fulham, Everton and Crystal Palace had previously been linked, but now Sports Lens report that West Ham are ready to make a move.
