West Ham United have been linked with Hugo Ekitike in recent months as they look to bolster their attacking ranks.
And in December, Le Parisien claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are eager to offload the 21-year-old striker in the January transfer window.
Ekitike ‘maintains a good rating in England’, where another loan move would be considered ‘a good deal’ for all involved, added the latter report.
Now, Sky Sport Germany journalist Plettenberg provided an update on X that is fairly positive as far as West Ham are concerned.
Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt were previously in the race for Ekitike alongside West Ham, but they can’t afford his wages, claimed the reporter.
Crucially, the young striker made a “great impression” with Frankfurt, but the only way a deal can go ahead is if he accepts a “drastic reduction” to his salary.
