Bolton Wanderers vs Cheltenham abandoned after medical emergency in stands
Bolton’s home game against Cheltenham on Saturday afternoon was halted in the first half after a fan collapsed in the stands, with both sets of players returning to the dressing room, before an announcement said that the match had been postponed
Bolton Wanderers’ match this afternoon was abandoned after a medical emergency in the stands. The game against Cheltenham was paused after about 30 minutes so that a fan in the stand at the Toughsheet Community Stadium could get medical care.
Medics came quickly with a defibrillator, and other fans were moved away. The players went back to their changing rooms. Bolton said on X: “There’s been a stoppage in-play here due to an apparent medical incident in the crowd. The players have been taken from the field for now.”
The fan who was ill was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, as reported by Sky Sports with fans applauding as the person was helped and taken away by medics.
A few minutes later it was announced that the match had been postponed, to be arranged at a later date.
