So, what is the latest on Daniel Munoz and Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
Well, the Colombia international is allegedly keen to join the Eagles.
Now – according to the Guardian – interest has been firmed up with an official bid, although Genk have rejected Crystal Palace’s opening offer.
Despite that, Ed Aarons explains that talks will continue, which suggests Roy Hodgson’s side will make a second bid for Munoz.
The Guardian add that Genk value the 27-year-old at a sum of €10m (£8.6m).
The South American has scored seven goals in 29 appearances, while also providing two assists.
In total, Munoz has scored 19 goals while assisting a further 20 in 148 games as part of Genk’s backline.
Surely, after a decade in the Premier League, Crystal Palace can afford to meet Genk’s £8.6m asking price?
The Daily Mail claimed earlier on Tuesday that we are in a healthy financial position as a football club, so with that in mind, and the obvious need for another right-back at Selhurst Park, it would be a real shock if an asking price of just £8.6m cannot be met.
Munoz appears to be exactly what we need on the right of defence, a player who will overlap Michael Olise and prevent the France U21 international from being doubled up on by opponents.
Whether Hodgson will throw him into the starting XI straight away – however – is another matter, given his strange treatment of Matheus Franca.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as talks between Crystal Palace and Genk continue.
