NRL giants set to sign Super League talent after major release

The Bulldogs are in a state of flux and are interested in signing the three May brothers, Taylan May from the Penrith Panthers, Terrell May from the Sydney Roosters, and Tyrone May from Hull KR in the Super League.

They have made some significant signings and may be about to do so again now that they have the salary cap flexibility to make a move for a replacement.

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs announced Faitala-Mariner’s immediate departure from his contract. The Club has reached an agreement with Faitala-Mariner to release him so that he can pursue another opportunity with an NRL club.

“Faitala-Mariner has made valuable contributions to the Bulldogs both on and off the field. He has made 102 appearances for the Club, and the Bulldogs would want to thank him for his hard work and dedication throughout his stay at Belmore.

“The Club wishes him and his family all the best in the future.

This frees up extra salary cap room for the Canterbury Bulldogs, allowing them to sign another player.

They had attempted to sign Siua Tauekiaho from the Catalans Dragons for the 2024 season, but the deal fell through when it was thought to be practically guaranteed.

He was due to sign a two-year contract with the Bulldogs, but their salary limit situation caused difficulties, as did the Dragons’ refusal to release him until a deal was made for the Tongan international. Then a failed medical terminated the interest, but with salary cap room, the Bulldogs will evaluate their alternatives for both the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
