The second West Ham player

Said Benrahma, 28, ultimately received approval to go to Lyon, which was wonderful news for everyone involved, even though it appeared that the transaction had fallen through at the last minute.

It is simply a loan move, not a permanent contract, as West Ham officially stated on their social media accounts. However, the official club website provided a little more information, mentioning that Lyon may choose to prolong Benrahma’s stay.

The Algerian’s season has been awful; he hardly played for the first team in 2023–24, which likely explains why he only had two assists and no goals (WhoScored).

Providing he performs well at his new job

Throughout the current season, David Moyes had not felt it was appropriate to trust the dynamic attacker in several games, and of those 1154 minutes, only five came from starts in the Premier League.

In fact, he only played ninety minutes in one game during the 2023–2024 English Premier League season—that one being the season opener against Bournemouth.

Said Benrahma was certain to depart West Ham United during this transfer window.

The 28-year-old winger had form issues as he made 22 appearances without scoring and only managed one assist.

In his final game under manager David Moyes, the forward was sent off against Bristol City. Benrahma was divisive among the supporters and never truly gained Moyes’ trust.

Benrahma, who signed a permanent contract with West Ham in January 2021 after leaving Brentford, made only passing impressions there. His best performance for the team came in the UEFA Conference League final against Fiorentina.

However, part of the reason he’s going to Lyon is his lack of consistency.
