The Golden State Warriors have been heavily linked to trade rumors during their turbulent 2023–24 season. After all, if Stephen Curry continues to play at a high level, it is expected that they will contend for a title, let alone a postseason berth. Unfortunately, the Warriors have remained silent thus far, and it is improbable that they will pull off a major trade that significantly alters their chances of winning the championship this year.
However, this does not imply that the Warriors are not considering strengthening their squad, especially in the frontcourt. They have recently placed a lot of reliance on Draymond Green to hold down the fort at center, and while Green is capable of doing so, they are still concerned about his lack of size on the interior. So, it should come as no surprise to learn that the Warriors are interested in versatile big man Kelly Olynyk, who has reportedly been linked to a possible trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
This is a clever moniker for Golden State. Numerous teams are vying for Utah Jazz star Kelly Olynyk. He would blend very well with Golden State. Golden State will keep talking to that guy, according to Wojnarowski on SportsCenter.
Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports confirmed that the Warriors are interested in Kelly Olynyk. He stated that, with a few hours remaining until the deadline, Golden State, along with the Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat, are the three clubs that might seriously consider pursuing Olynyk.
Olynyk fits the mold of a guy who should blend in perfectly with the Warriors’ motion-based approach, as Wojnarowski observed. For a Warriors team that like using five-out lineups, Olynyk’s ability to span the floor and run dribble handoffs is a huge plus. He also loves to keep the ball moving.
Sadly, it might not be easy for the Warriors and Jazz to trade. Would the Dubs be interested in trading for Gary Payton II? Is a deal predicated around Payton’s salary attractive enough for the Jazz? As the trade deadline draws nearer, those are the kinds of questions that need to be addressed.
