Crystal Palace board pull manager U-turn as Parish makes intentions clear

Palace were thrashed 4-1 away to rivals Brighton last weekend, which has further fueled fan protests as they become increasingly disillusioned with the club’s leadership.
“It was a poor beginning. The last thing you want is to be a goal down against Brighton, who are a very good home team, but I thought they outplayed us in the first half. We didn’t really come to grips with them in that half, and they were pretty much in charge,” Hodgson remarked after Palace’s defeat to Brighton.
“The two goals which came in quick succession really made life almost impossible for us at half-time – how are we going to get back from this? – but I thought in the second half the team did make a good effort to try and get back from it.”

Hodgson’s team might be demoted for the first time since their promotion from the Championship in 2013, something the Palace leadership is well aware of, as sources say former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper is a leading candidate to succeed Hodgson as manager.
There have also been many reports that Parish intends to fire Hodgson in the middle of the season and find a replacement quickly, with Julen Lopetegui and Bo Svensson among the other speculated options recently.Despite widespread speculation that Hodgson is on the verge of being fired, Football Insider and journalist Pete O’Rourke has provided an important update on the situation.
Indeed, according to their source, Palace have chosen to maintain Hodgson until the end of the season, with club officials and Parish hoping to find a replacement in the summer.
This is the current situation, so if things worsen and the south Londoners continue their poor form, the hierarchy will seriously consider dismissing him before the end of 2023/24 season.
TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook spoke with GiveMeSport earlier this week about who he believes might eventually succeed Hodgson.
“The Julen Lopetegui link is interesting because I think he has pushed himself forward,” he remarked
“He wants to come back into Premier League management and has turned down offers from Saudi Arabia, so don’t count him out. But I believe Steve Cooper has always been the favourite. They came close to appointing him before Patrick Vieira took the position. I’m informed that he is really ready to get back to work and does not want a protracted hiatus.
