In light of their mutual departure from long-time head coach Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots were obliged to overhaul both their coaching staff and their personnel department. During his 24 seasons with the organization, Belichick served as both head coach and de facto general manager, leading both departments.

One month after the split, the Patriots have completed a large piece of their post-Belichick organizational structure. Wednesday, in particular, saw the squad fill numerous previously vacant positions: the club reportedly hired or rehired five people, including coaching staff and front-office personnel.

With Brian Belichick staying, and T.C. McCartney, Scott Peters, Alonzo Highsmith, and Bobby Brown joining the team, we’re getting a sense of what the Patriots will look like off the field in 2024. So, let’s see where things stand.
With Bill Belichick’s departure and Jerod Mayo taking control, the Patriots experienced a huge structural transformation in all three phases of the game. After all, the change in head coach was not the only one going on: New England also hired new coordinators and kept only a few of its existing assistants.
With that stated, here’s how Mayo’s staff looks as of Thursday morning. Needless to say, transformation is still underway:

Only Brian Belichick and Mike Pellegrino are expected to return to their positions from a year ago. There is a theoretical chance that others, such as wide receivers coach Troy Brown, tight ends coach Will Lawing, and assistant quarterbacks coach Evan Rothstein, will join them, but they are expected to be replaced by outside hires.
The rest of the staff, however, has either changed jobs (Mayo, Covington) or been brought in from outside the organization (Van Pelt, McCartney, Peters, McAdoo, Montgomery, Springer). As seen by the current openings, further such external expansions appear to be in the works.
One additional name is worth mentioning. Keith Jones served on the Patriots’ staff in 2023 as a fellowship recipient. Jones’ future is uncertain now that Jerry Montgomery has joined as D-line coach, removing a potential promotion opportunity.
