Holli Wheeler to join Game Day Announcing Team for Pre-Season Double-Header

Holli Wheeler, an experienced Jillaroo and Sky Blue forward, will join Canterbury’s regular game day commentator Steve Allan to amuse spectators at tomorrow evening’s double-header at Belmore Sports Ground.
Holli Wheeler has played professional rugby league at the highest level, making three appearances for Australia at the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.
While she presently plays NRLW for Cronulla, Wheeler has publicly discussed growing up in a Canterbury family that bleeds Blue and White.
NRL 2023: Canterbury Bulldogs club captain told to stay away from pre-season training, new signings, Raymond Faitala-Mariner
She played in the Bulldogs’ Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership team last year and has been a strong advocate for the Club’s inclusion in the upcoming NRLW expansion.
“I’ve had the opportunity to play at Belmore Sports Ground several times throughout my career, and even when I was playing for Newcastle early on, my experiences with the Bulldogs were always great. The Bulldogs graciously gave a couple of us a tour inside the gym, and we saw all of the players and their numbers on the walls.
“They said they were a family club at the time, and as a player now immersed in the system, I’ve noticed that it’s not just talk; the Bulldogs are devoted to fostering an inclusive, supporting, and high-performance environment for all players.
“When it comes to being NRLW ready, the Bulldogs have all the necessary elements in place,” Wheeler went on to say.
“As a footy head who has come from a Bulldogs fanatic family, I am so excited to see the club advance their women’s program and can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Bulldogs.”
The ARL is thought to have convened yesterday, but any decision on NRLW expansion yet to be seen.
In the meanwhile, Wheeler will bring her firsthand rugby league experience to Belmore Sports Ground tomorrow, where she will announce her first NRL matches for the Pre-Season Challenge Double Header.
The South Sydney Rabbitohs will face the Sydney Roosters first at 6:00 PM, followed by the Bulldogs’ home game against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at 8:00 PM.
