Cleveland — In addition to signing Ken Dorsey as offensive coordinator, the Browns have announced the addition of Tommy Rees (tight ends/pass game specialist), Jacques Cesaire (defensive line), and Duce Staley (running backs) to their staff.
Dorsey rejoined the Browns after playing for them from 2006 to 2008. Following his time as a player, he began working with some of the best quarterbacks, including Cam Newton.
Before rejoining the Browns, he worked with the Bills for five years as a quarterbacks coach, passing game coordinator, and offensive coordinator.
“Ken has worked with and elevated some of the league’s best quarterbacks, and he will bring a new approach to our offense,” stated Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. “He understands what it takes to be successful at that position because he was one of the most successful college quarterbacks of all time, which has helped him become an excellent coach.” He has a history with this franchise and understands what the Browns mean to the community. We are very happy to hire Ken as offensive coordinator.”
Rees most recently served as Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2023 season, helping the team win the SEC Championship Game and advance to the College Football Playoff. Previously, he spent six seasons at Notre Dame as quarterbacks coach and later offensive coordinator.
“Tommy has established himself as one of the top assistant coaches in college football and I have no doubt that will transition to the NFL,” Stefanski said. “He has an incredible football acumen and I look forward to bringing his insight and unique perspective from top college programs to our offense.”
Cesaire, who played and coached for nine years, was previously Houston’s defensive line coach. He also served two seasons as Buffalo’s assistant defensive line coach, nine seasons with the San Diego Chargers, and played in 125 career games.
“Jacques brings energy and a proven track record as both a player and coach in this league,” Stefanski added. “He has made his impact felt in every place he has been, and we know he will come in and work to increase an already high standard for our defensive line.”
Staley joins the Browns staff with 25 years of NFL experience, including 10 as a player and 15 as a coach. In both positions, he has won the Super Bowl. He has previously coached Carolina, Detroit, and Philadelphia. He helped the Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2017.
“Duce was a tough, hard-nosed running back in this league and brings the mind-set and energy to his coaching style that is needed in the running backs room,” Stefanski said. “He understands how to get the most out of his players, having worked with some of the top running backs in the NFL. We’re pleased to have him lead our running backs.”
