A.J. Green stood at his locker Sunday afternoon, fully aware of what was to come.
“Whatever my punishment is, I accept it,” he told me. “I put myself in that situation.”
On Monday, the National Football League decided not impose a penalty on the Cincinnati Bengals’ Pro Bowl wide out following his altercation with Jacksonville Jaguars CB Jalen Ramsey at EverBank Field.
He is being investigated, however, for a possible fine.
If Green was suspended for at least one game, he would lose a game check worth around $600,000.
The Bengals have some negotiating power with wideout Ja’Marr Chase, who is under contract for two more years after his fifth-year option is picked up, and may use the franchise tag in the future.
Tyreek Hill’s four-year, $120 million contract is now the wealthiest contract in NFL history for a wide receiver, and he is the only one to have ever earned $30 million or more per year, although Chase, Lamb, and/or Jefferson might surpass that milestone.
Spotrac also forecasted a long-term contract for Tee Higgins, who recently received the franchise tag. This is what his projection looks like.
