The 49ers have announced their acquisition of former Packers American footballer…

San Francisco 49ers have signed former Green Bay Packers running back Patrick Taylor to a one-year contract, leaving only safety Rudy Ford as the only Green Bay free agent on the open market.

Taylor, an undrafted free agent, signed with the Packers in 2020 but took an injury redshirt season due to being placed on the non-football injury list.

Taylor played 34 games for the Packers, completing 65 carries, 261 yards, a touchdown, 14 receptions, 322 offensive snaps, 226 in 2023, and 276 special teams reps.

The 49ers’ need for a last-second miracle deserves a thorough reevaluation.

Taylor, a pass protector, provided the team with a third-down option after AJ Dillon’s injury. Due to injuries, he played six games with 20-32 snaps per game.

Green Bay likely didn’t re-sign running back Taylor due to the already strong bodies of Josh Jacobs, AJ Dillon, Emanuel Wilson, and Ellis Merriweather, all listed with a weight of at least 220 pounds.

The Packers are aiming to fill the veteran leadership void in 2024, with youth serving on the offensive line and J.J. McCarthy benefiting from the NFL’s performance-based pay program.
