San Francisco 49ers are considering a contingency plan to secure the fifth-year option if they are not satisfied with the available players at pick No. 31. Brandon Aiyuk, under contract for another season, is under consideration.

If the Niners offer Bo Nix or Penix, John Lynch has no choice but to consider. Covering all bases is smart, as the Niners need a backup group and extra picks beyond 2024 to secure a starter.

Steph Sanchez discusses top 50 prospects, including Alabama’s Chris Braswell, who had eight sacks and three forced fumbles last year. At the NFL Combine, Braswell ran a 4.6 40-yard dash, making him a “safe” pick. Other options include Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy, BYU’s Suamataia, and Washington’s Rosengarten.

Ohio State defensive tackle Michael Hall, a three-year sophomore with strong legs and speed off the line, is an intriguing prospect in the draft. The 49ers may consider trading out other players like Christian Haynes and Patrick Paul in the second-round range.
