Stormers director John Dobson confirms interest in Springboks loosehead prop Steven Kitshoff, who left Stormers for Ulster after 2022/23 season.

Ulster, a Belfast-based rugby club, has faced financial struggles, with a £900,000 loss last season. The club is considering releasing two-time Rugby World Cup winner Kitshoff. The Stormers are expected to return Kitshoff to their camp by July 1.

Cape Town-based team is in negotiations to bring Kitshoff back to South Africa, respectful of Ulster’s position and Steven’s wishes, hoping for certainty within the next few days.

Ulster skipper Iain Henderson believes Springboks prop Steven Kitshoff’s departure “makes sense” for the province, despite speculation about his future. Kitshoff is considered one of the greatest Stormers to date.

Ulster’s manager, Henderson, is optimistic about Kitshoff’s performance this week and anticipates an exciting game against Montpellier in the Challenge Cup. Despite struggles, Kitshoff has made 12 appearances for Ulster.
