The Buffalo Bills are facing financial challenges after trading Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans. They need a new wide receiver and could fill this gap by selecting a wide receiver in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft or trading for Brandon Aiyuk.

Aiyuk is entering his fifth-year option on his rookie contract, earning a guaranteed $14.1 million in 2024. If the Niners cannot find a long-term deal, he will enter free agency in 2025.

Buffalo may need to make a move if San Francisco accepts a second-rounder in a trade, as the steep price for Aiyuk requires significant salary cap gymnastics.

Thad Brown of WROC-TV believes Aiyuk’s next four years may not be better than his last four with Diggs, and adding him could put the Bills back on the salary cap constricted conveyor. Brown prefers to take a swing with the good rooks in the draft.

The Buffalo Bills spent $31 million on Aiyuk, the second-best receiver in the league, after leaving the Diggs. However, they also cleared $18.5 million for 2025, allowing them to consider adding him. Aiyuk had 75 catches, 1,342 yards, and 7 touchdowns last season.
