Ange Postecoglou confirms new Tottenham injury blow in double update before Man City
Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Yves Bissouma will miss the remainder of the season after picking up a knee injury against Burnley.
The Mali international started the 2-1 victory before being withdrawn in the late stages and he will now join an injury list which increased before the Burnley game after Richarlison picked up a calf issue in training. When asked for the latest team news, Postecoglou offered an update on the Brazil international and revealed the new blow.\
“Not good, he’ll [Richarlison] miss the next two games,” the Spurs boss said. “Nothing serious. Bissouma unfortunately picked up a knee injury so he’ll miss the last two games. Other than that everyone who was available is available.”
Bissouma’s absence will likely see either Rodrigo Bentancur or Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg come into midfield for the huge Premier League clash against Manchester City on Tuesday. As a result of Richarlison’s problem, Postecoglou opted to deploy Son Heung-min down the middle with his absence a significant blow given how late it occurred before the Burnley clash.
“It was unfortunate,” Postecoglou revealed of Richarlison’s injury. “I know I did the press conference yesterday, but it was literally the last kick of the game and I saw him hobble off and I assumed it was nothing serious.
“Then it didn’t get any better later on in the evening and he was sent for a scan on his calf and I still don’t know the results of that to be honest, but watching him today he was still hobbling about.”
