Vikings Links: Tributes Pour in as Team Mourns Khyree Jackson’s Tragic Death
Tragedy still looms large in Vikings circles and friends, family and others search for answers
The holiday weekend carried a somber note with the Vikings getting news of the tragic death of recently drafted cornerback Khyree Jackson. While Jackson was only 24, plenty of people noted the effect he had in their lives in his brief time on earth.
Monday Morning Mailbag: Vikings Mourn Khyree Jackson’s Tragic Passing
“Heartbroken,” tweeted Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell.
“I am absolutely crushed by this news,” he added in a team statement released after the accident. “Khyree brought a contagious energy to our facility and our team. His confidence and engaging personality immediately drew his teammates to him. In our short time together, it was evident Khyree was going to develop into a tremendous professional football player, but what was more impressive was his desire to become the best person he could be for his family and those around him.
“I am at a loss for words. My heart goes out to Khyree’s family, friends, teammates and coaches.”

The photos of the Dodge Charger Jackson, Hazel and Lytton were riding in have been published, but they are not for the faint of heart. Click here if you wish to see them, but the short version here is that there was virtually nothing left of the car.
