In recent years, the Canadiens have not been immune to injury.
The 2024-2025 season hasn’t even begun yet, and already a player has fallen in battle.
According to Mathieu Paradis, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard had a lower-body injury during a sporting event comprising current and past Rocket players.
And, as indicated in Paradis’ All About Hockey article, it will be the same leg as last year.
Remember that he missed slightly under four weeks, while being expected to miss at least four.
We hope it isn’t too serious and won’t keep him from starting the season in good shape. We know his position is far from secure, and he’ll need to be at his best from the start of training camp if he wants to get and keep his job.
If this injury worsens, one of the team’s most recent recruits, Alex Barré-Boulet, may be able to step in. Beginning in September, the two Quebecers who play the same position will compete for a spot on the left. We understand that they should share a single space.
After a spectacular first half-season in which RHP, no longer able to dodge waivers, scored 14 goals in 34 games, he cooled off little in 2023-2024. Injuries didn’t help his cause, and he only struck the target twice.
And to suggest that this season was significant for him would be an understatement. On July 1, 2025, he will be a restricted free agent and eligible for arbitration.
Overtime: Montreal CF trade.
