Sha’Carri Richardson will seek revenge against Julien Alfred at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich with other top 100m stars also being confirmed for the race.
Sha’Carri Richardson and Julien Alfred will renew their rivalry at the Diamond League Meeting in Zurich scheduled for September 5.
Richardson will be out to seek revenge from the St. Lucien athlete who silenced her at the Paris Olympic Games. The American sprinter finished second behind Alfred in the women’s 100m final at the Olympics, something that was never expected as she was a favourite to win.
She now has a chance to return to winning ways in Zurich after going undercover after the Olympic Games. The reigning world champion went back to the drawing board to sharpen her talons and once she steps on the track in Zurich, she will be out to showcase her exploits.

Before the Olympics, Richardson was in great shape, winning the women’s 100m at the Prefontaine Classic before dominating the U.S. Olympic trials. She won the women’s 100m final in a world-leading time of 10.71 seconds to cross the finish line ahead of Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry.
At the Olympics, she was off to a great start, winning the heats of the women’s 100m before faltering in the final and semifinal of the race. However, she bounced back in the women’s 4x100m relay race as she anchored Team USA to a gold medal.
On her part, Alfred will seek to extend her winning streak from the Olympic Games. She has yet to race after winning gold in the women’s 100m and silver in the 200m at the Olympics.
Alfred started her season with a gold medal at the World Indoor Championships in Glasgow before clashing against Richardson at the Prefontaine Classic. She proceeded to win the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica and claimed the 200m title at the Gyulai István Memorial, a Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix.
Alfred proceeded to win the Diamond League Meeting in Monaco and finished second in London. She then threw down the gauntlet at the Paris Olympic Games where she made history for St. Lucia.
