West Ham want to sign Ukraine wonder, scouts already spotted

West Ham United transfer news as Maksym Talovyerov move on cards

West Ham are interested in Ukrainian defender Maksym Talovyerov from Slavia Prague this summer as David Moyes likes what he has seen, according to Sport.ua.

The Ukrainian news outlet shared that West Ham sent scouts to watch Talovyerov at international games at the Under 21s European Championships to keep an eye on the progress of the defender.

It has been reported that West Ham already has a good relationship with Slavia Prague, thanks to the deals for Thomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal, which could be beneficial in achieving a deal to bring Talovyerov to East London.

A new option for West Ham’s defence

Talovyerov represents a new, younger option to bolster the heart of West Ham’s defence. Moyes is reportedly a fan of the defender’s physical prowess and athleticism, as he stands at 6ft4, providing an effective aerial threat.

West Ham have been in the market for a number of centre-backs this summer as they look to strengthen at the back, as well as add further aerial threat to their team.

A £20million bid for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire was rejected [Manchester Evening News, 29 July], while the club are credited with an interest in German international Jonathan Tah who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen.

At just 23 years old, the Ukrainian centre-back would be West Ham’s youngest option in his position by three years, with Thilo Kehrer aged 26, Nayef Aguerd aged 27, Kurt Zouma, 28 and Angelo Ogbonna the oldest at 35.

The report from Ukraine also suggests the Hammers may look to secure a deal for Ta

lovyerov before sending him out on loan for the season, as the team is saturated at centre-back following the renewal of “fourth-option” Angelo Ogbonna’s contract.
