According to Paul Brown, West Ham winger Mohammed Kudus will be a wonderful match in David Moyes’ midfield.
Following Declan Rice’s departure, it was critical that West Ham spent their money wisely on two or three midfielders to help cushion the impact of losing our former captain. With what we’ve seen thus far, it’s safe to say we’ve done an exceptional job.
Our Hammers have Paqueta to build around in the middle of the park, and we’ve added three players with diverse skill sets to form a powerful midfield. Paqueta is the showman; his passing is world-class, but he is also highly trustworthy defensively. Alvarez appears to be the ideal defensive midfielder, James Ward-Prowse has been one of the league’s most impressive players, and Mohammed Kudus has now been added to the mix.
These four guys have the potential to have another memorable season in east London. With Alvarez in a three-man pivot and James and Lucas alternating between offensive and defensive duties, Kudus can focus on attacking and doing what he does best: scoring goals.
Fortunately, all three of Paqueta, Kudus, and Ward-Prowse are strong prospects for the future, and journalist Paul Brown feels they will complement each other well. “Yes, it’s a nice trio,” he said in an interview with GIVEMESPORT.
“Ward-Prowse has given them a little bit more vision and is someone who can break open a game with a single defense-splitting pass.” Kudus will enjoy playing with him because he will be the recipient of some of those. He’s the man that likes to run into the box, and I believe Ward-Prowse will track him down.
“Paqueta plays a little higher up the pitch,” he continued, “so you’d expect him and Kudus to link up quite a bit if they can build some chemistry.”
Both the Brazilian and the Ghanaian were ideal signings for David Moyes, as they were both great talents with interest from much “bigger” clubs. “I think that’s an exciting potential partnership as well,” Paul stated correctly.
“I believe you will see the two of them on the edge of the box quite frequently, giving West Ham a completely different dimension to the way they attack teams and build up play.” It has the potential to be fantastic.”
On paper, the midfield is amazing, but in practice, it’s possibly the finest in the league outside of the top six. Newcastle is the only team out of the other 14 that might be argued to have a better midfield. However, we have yet to witness Kudus’ capabilities in that midfield.
As previously stated, it is well balanced, with all three players, save Kudus, being suited to Moyes’ style of play. It’ll be interesting to see how the dynamics shift after Mohammed enters the game.
While it will be a difficult match, he could make his complete Premier League debut this Saturday against Manchester City. The Citizens have been plagued by injuries, so this could be the ideal opportunity for Kudus to come in and cause an upset, but it’s too early to tell what his role will be in the game.
What we do know is that we have the talent, which can only be enhanced by our Ghanaian superstar.
