Brendan Rodgers delivers an injury update on Nat Phillips and Cameron Carter-Vickers for Celtic ahead of their match against Livingston.
The Celtic manager confesses he’s not sure if the on-loan defender will be ready this weekend.

Brendan Rodgers, manager of Celtic, says he is still waiting to see how Nat Phillips is recuperating ahead of Saturday’s Premiership meeting with Livingston after he missed the midweek setback to Feyenoord.

After twisting his ankle on his debut against Dundee last week, the on-loan Liverpool center back lasted only 45 minutes before being replaced by Gustaf Lagerbielke, who was then sent off in the Champions League. He and Liam Scales are both available for this weekend’s match against Livingston, but Celtic are down to the bare bones at the back, and Phillips’ availability would be a great boost for the Hoops.

And he’ll be given every chance to prove his fitness, but Rodgers admits it’s still up in the air and he’s not sure if he’ll be able to include him in the team for the trip to the Tony Macaroni Arena for the live TV game on Saturday afternoon, while Cameron Carter-Vickers is still on track to return in October.

“We’ll see how Nat Phillips is,” he told Sky Sports. We’ll see how he is when he rolled his ankle hard next week. We still have another 24 hours before we join the team. Everything else is OK. Reo Hatate gained more playing time and is still working on his conditioning, but it was fantastic to see him on the pitch.”

And on Carter-Vickers return date, he said: “It’s early October. He’s still a wee bit away.
