Norwich City v Birmingham City injury news as 11 players ruled out

The latest injury and team news ahead of Norwich City’s EFL Championship match against Birmingham City at Carrow Road.

Both Birmingham City and Norwich City are dealing with injuries ahead of their EFL Championship meeting at Carrow Road.

Both David Wagner and John Eustace have dealt with a number of major injuries in the opening two months of the season, and will be unable to rely on numerous of their players.

Blues and Canaries are both off of form, with the former winless since August 26, while Norwich were defeated 6-2 on the road by Plymouth Argyle last weekend.

Norwich were in Carabao Cup action on Wednesday night and put up a spirited fight in a 2-1 defeat. However, September was a poor month for them, with only one win and four losses.

With that in mind, here is the most recent injury and team news ahead of Norwich City’s EFL Championship match against Birmingham City:

Team news from Birmingham City

The Blues have received many pieces of awful injury news in the last week.

Left-back Lee Buchanan is the latest to join the injury list after sustaining a training ground injury. He rolled his ankle in training, and is expected to be out until after the international break in mid-October.

Jacob Sørensen

Fellow summer signing Keshi Anderson is on the treatment table after picking up an injury against QPR. A hamstring injury is to rule him out to between six to eight weeks.

Ethan Laird, George Hall and Tyler Roberts remain sidelined with injuries meanwhile. Laird and Hall suffered hamstring injuries in August against Bristol City and Cardiff City respectively.

Tyler Roberts has a calf problem that has ruled him out for most of August, and now all of September. All three players are not close to a return with Roberts suffering a setback

Alfie Chang has been out since August due to a training ground injury. The 21-year-old sustained a’significant knee injury’ that necessitated surgery.

News about the Norwich City team

Josh Sargent is out till Christmas due to an injury suffered in August. He sustained severe ankle ligament damage, which forced him to miss four months of work.

Ashley Barnes has also been ruled out after suffering an injury against Leicester City. He had knee damage that does not necessitate surgery, but he will be sidelined until late October.

Chilean international Marcelino Nunez is another likely to be out. Nunez suffered an ankle injury earlier this month and has not featured for the Canaries since the return to league action.

Earlier this year Grant Hanley underwent surgery for a ‘serious’ Achilles injury, and he is not yet fit. Jacob Sorensen meanwhile has a pelvic issue, which required him to see a specialist.
