‘He’s not 100%’: Daniel Farke says £10m Leeds man is available again, but three others are injured
Daniel Farke has given an update on his Leeds United squad ahead of Saturday’s trip to Southampton during Thursday’s press conference – as per the club’s YouTube – and he says Patrick Bamford is back.
Leeds come into the game after four consecutive clean sheets, while Southampton have lost four in a row, including a 5-0 loss to Sunderland. Leeds have only lost one of their eight Championship games.
On Saturday, Joel Piroe, Sam Byram and Jaidon Anthony got the goals as Leeds cruised past Watford at Elland Road. But, the Whites were still without a number of senior players – despite the dominating win.
Joe Rodon is expected to return after suspension, following a red card against Hull City. Patrick Bamford was also due to be in the mix, after returning to training last week. Stuart Dallas is also back in training.
During Thursday’s press conference, Farke provided an update. He claims that Bamford is now ready, but he is not fully recovered due to a lack of rhythm. Willy Gnonto, Junior Firpo, and Djed Spence are still out.
“Patrick Bamford is not in perfect rhythm, he is not 100%, but he is one week ahead of schedule after training.” He’s a potential topic for the squad. When asked about Bamford, Farke remarked, “He is a topic to travel.”
“Willy and Firpo will be out until the international break.” Gnonto underwent effective surgery. On his way back to rehabilitation. Djed Spence will be out till after the international break as well. There have been no new injuries.”
Daniel Farke provides an injury report for Leeds ahead of their match against Southampton.
It’s huge to have Bamford back. Farke has often stated that the £10 million signing has scored plenty of goals at this level in the past. However, the England international will almost certainly struggle to break into the starting lineup.
At the present, Georginio Rutter is without a doubt first choice, although Joel Piroe is combining well as the club’s no.10. So, that friendship will continue on Saturday, but Bamford may be a substitute.
