One-time Broncos star Teui ‘TC’ Robati has been named as the NRL player charged with rape following an alleged incident at the Prince Consort Hotel in Fortitude Valley on December 11 last year.
Robati, 21, was sacked by the NRL club in February following a string of off-field incidents, including being charged with unlicensed driving
In 2021, the New Zealand-born backrower was also fined and had his licence suspended after pleading guilty to dangerous operation of a car.
The legislation lifted the prohibition in place against identifying people charged with prescribed sexual offences before their cases have been committed to trial.
Robati allegedly raped a woman at the hotel on December 11, and was charged on January 14.
Previously, Robati has proclaimed his innocence, adamant the interaction with the woman at the popular pub in Brisbane’s party district was consensual.
He told the NRL he had gone to a bathroom with the woman, where they engaged in a consensual sex act.
Robati’s case is listed for a further mention in the Brisbane Magistrates Court next week.
He made 17 appearances across two seasons with the Broncos in 2021 and 2022.
