Nathan Ferguson may have already played his final game for Crystal Palace following the sad news that he has picked up yet another injury.
It was reported by London News Online that the player will now need surgery after picking up a hamstring injury.
So, what’s the latest on Nathan Ferguson and why could he have played his last game for Crystal Palace? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Ferguson managed to play 90 minutes for the Crystal Palace U21s during the week and it looked like he came away from the game unscathed.
This was not the case, and it was then revealed that the defender, who has only made one senior appearance for the club in three years, suffered another injury setback.
With him needing surgery, he will spend a few months on the sidelines minimum, and then he will have to get match fit.
This new injury could spark the end of his time in South London. More so, his current contract at the club expires in June 2024.
Nathan Ferguson could have played his last game for Crystal Palace
It is really sad that the 23-year-old has picked up another injury, just as he had completed 90 minutes for the first time since 2022.
Now, it is back to the drawing board for the player, who must have a huge mentality after picking up so many injuries over the years.
With the defender still young, he can definitely have a football career, but after the Eagles already gave him a contract extension last season, it may be hard to convince them to keep him on for another year.
Due to this, the player, who is apparently on £25,000-a-week, could have played his last game for the Eagles. Even if he recovered by March, he would then have to fight for a place in the team and hope he doesn’t pick up another injury.
With all the surgery and possible rehab, combined with the competition in defence, even March 2024 feels like an early return date.
It looked like a transfer which had lots of promise and potential, but it has sadly been hampered by injuries, something which is completely out of everyone’s control.
